For this infographic project, I chose a set of statistics and set out to create an illustration to create a visualization of the information. After choosing moose and bear attacks in the US for my statistic, I went and made a fun, cartoon-like infographic that helps summarize the information that I researched. My goal was to keep the viewer interested by incorporating drawings throughout the poster, guiding the viewer to each block of information.

Sketches

When considering designs for this project, I wanted to include illustrations of both moose and bear. To display the facts that I had researched, I wanted to display it in a way that would keep the viewer engaged.

Color Palette

For the color palette, I chose neutral/nature-inspired colors that would complement the theme of the wilderness poster. Throughout the drafts, the color palette did change as I received feedback.

Typography

The typography for my poster is playful to match the energy of the illustrations and the playfulness of the infographic.

First Draft

in the first draft, I used a background color that was too dark, not letting the illustrations stand out, and the overall organization of the poster was not working well.

Final Draft

To better organize the photographs with information, and give better hierarchy to the text, I changed the poster to a landscape scale and also lightened the background color.

Final Design

After receiving more feedback, I changed the background color of the photos to sky blue to make the Polaroids seem more real. Most of all, I went back to a vertical design to match the illustrations and trees. To make the illustrations more of a focal point, I made them larger and also gave them a full body rather than getting cut off with pictures.

Although the infographic ws designed to be a poster, it could also serve in other ways like a flyer or a card to be handed out to camping guests.
