In this series of posters, I wanted to convey the importance of understanding some of the often missed symptoms of PTSD using a grunge/urban style. Each poster is a different symptom accompanied by a Photoshop image of a person emulating that symptom. The squiggly lines represent the turmoil that the person may be experiencing. Each poster foot has a help contact for viewers who may be suffering from PTSD or people who have loved ones who are demonstrating similar symptoms.

Taking three symptoms of PTSD I set out to sketch how those symptoms could be expressed in an image.

Typography

For the typography, I chose two fonts that I felt complemented the poster and were easy to read. The title font was a bold, all-caps, sans-serif font that gave a grunge feel. The poster's information text was a simple Arial font that was easy to read.

color palette

With a grunge style, I chose a color palette that was more urban with muted tones, along with a blue that originally was going to be used as an accent color, but later was removed so not to take away from the posters images.

Initial Draft

In this first series of posters, I used Photoshop to recreate the sketches that I had chosen to resemble the symptoms. The first two did not project the feeling that I was going for, and neither complemented the other to make a triptych.

Final Draft

After discovering the issues with the first draft, I went back and recreated the images for 'Intrusive Thoughts' and "Feelings of Guilt' to match the energy of the 'Anger' poster. Now all elements were matching and had commonality.

In the final design, I was able to harmonize all of posters together in a grunge theme that helps describe some of the misunderstood symptoms of PTSD. The poster is able to stand alone or together and still give the same message.
